Barbecue World Championship, Lisdoonvarna

Competitors come from all over the world for this event which takes place during the first weekend in September each year. As the event coincides with the Matchmaking Festival a carnival atmosphere pervades the town with music, dancing, traditional sessions, etc. at numerous venues.

Cois na hAbhna, Ennis

This auditorium is Clare's Comhaltas Headquarters. It houses a unique archive of materials on traditional music, song, dance and folklore mainly pertaining to County Care. Other activities at the Centre include set dancing classes on Wednesday nights plus céilis every weekend.

Fleadh Nua, Ennis

The Fleadh Nua festival takes place the last weekend in May each year. Tuition is provided by master players on all traditional instruments at the various workshops. Dance and song are also catered for. Pub and street sessions plus concerts are a major feature of the weekend. More ...

Cruinniu Na mBad (Gathering of the Boats) takes place the last weekend in August each year. Because of the involvement of ancient sailing vessels (particularly Hookers), ancient links are maintained between Kinvara and the people of Connemara.
